The Healthcare Support Programme (FULL-TIME & PART-TIME) will equip you with the skills to work in a high demand sector and provide you with the opportunity to participate in a practice-led teaching and learning environment.

  • Return to Learning Level 4 minor award or
  • Leaving Certificate student – CAO Points: 280 and O4 in English and Mathematics or above
  • Basic Computer Skills in Microsoft Office Suite: Word and Outlook
  • All students must satisfy a BKSB English and Mathematics and satisfactory Interview process
  • Satisfactory outcome of the Garda Vetting process is a requirement of this programme
  • Applicants must be 18 years old (minimum) on entry
  • Work Placement of 150 hours are mandatory in a relevant healthcare setting

Graduates can apply to progress to the 6M2218 Social and Vocational Integration (Social Care Level 6)

This course is available Full Time  (VTOS) and Part Time (BTEI)

  • FULL TIME (VTOS Programme): 5 days a week, over 1 year

  • PART TIME (BTEI Programme): 3 mornings per week

*Students must be eligible under the (BTEI) Back to Education Initiative – see study options page for more information.

This course is offered free to learners.

*Course completion is reliant on Garda Vetting Process.

*Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board reserves the right to refuse course admission and/or completion.

Qualifications are acceptable to secure employment across a wide range of healthcare settings to include the public, private and voluntary sectors. Common areas of employment include hospitals, residential homes and community nursing units.
