Healthcare Support (QQI Level 5) - Full Time / Part Time
Programme Aim
In response to the demand in our community for skilled care workers, this course will facilitate students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for a career in this field of work. This qualification enables graduates to work in nursing homes, day care centres, and residential homes or as agency care workers within the community.
Entry Requirements
- Applicants will be expected to a Leaving Certificate or equivalent standard education.
- Relevant work experience coupled with life experience.
- Included in the admission process is an interview followed by an online assessment in Mathematics and English.
- All applicants are subject to an interview.

Course Duration
This course is available Full Time (VTOS) and Part Time (BTEI)
FULL TIME (VTOS Programme): 5 days a week, over 1 year
*Students must be eligible under the (VTOS) Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme – see study options page for more information.
PART TIME (BTEI Programme): 3 mornings per week
*Students must be eligible under the (BTEI) Back to Education Initiative – see study options page for more information.
Progression
On successfully completing the programme students will be in a good position to progress onto further or higher education.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may be able to secure employment as a healthcare worker in hospitals, nursing homes, community day services and as home-help support.
FEE
This course is offered free to learners.
