This award equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and competence to work effectively under supervision as Special Needs Assistants. It focuses on understanding the role, responsibilities, and key qualities required, as well as relevant disability legislation and the rights of children to autonomy and participation.
Learners will develop the ability to support children with additional needs through appropriate care routines, effective communication, and collaboration with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams. The program emphasizes promoting equality, maintaining professionalism, and reflecting on personal practice to ensure each child’s individuality and needs are respected and met.
This course will run every Wednesday morning from 9:00am-1:00pm from September to December 2026
